1913 USBL Season
The following year, the United States Baseball League owners tried again. A second season included a vast array of new teams. The Lynchburg Shoemakers, who had been ejected from the Virginia League earlier, played out of the Fairgrounds in Lynchburg. Up in the nation's capital, the Washington team was given the "Bandits" nickname. In their home stadium, Georgetown Park, they fell to Brooklyn in extra-innings on opening day. Meanwhile, the clubs in Newark and New York, who faced each other in a Newark win, collapsed after a 1 game where 100 fans showed up.
